Presbyterian Española Hospital was recognized as the sixth most racially inclusive hospital in the U.S in a new ranking by the Lown Institute.
It was also the most racially inclusive hospital in New Mexico.
The Lown Institute, a nonpartisan healthcare think tank, examined the racial inclusivity of more than 3,200 hospitals by looking at how well the hospital’s Medicare patients matched the demographics of the hospital’s surrounding communities. Hospitals underserving communities of color got lower rankings.
The Lown Institute ranked the top 50 hospitals on how successfully they serve people of color living in their communities.
